During this special term, SCBS pupils showed excellent independent learning skills in the remote e-learning programme, which made their teachers very happy. On the last day of this term, the teachers held an award ceremony for the extraordinary performers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
今天是本学期的最后一天。在这个特殊的学期,上海康德双语实验学校小学部的孩子们进行了四个月的远程学习,他们在此期间表现出的超越年龄的自主学习能力让老师们倍感欣慰。今天,老师为那些在疫情期间表现出色的学生举行了学期颁奖礼。
The teachers awarded those who performed remarkably or made great progress in reading, creativity, sports, and Literacy. In addition, the teachers presented awards to the pupils showing a positive attitude or showing kindness towards others this year. Our pupils were encouraged to do physical exercises during the pandemic to protect themselves from the coronavirus, so we selected our ‘Sports Stars’. This ceremony reflected the school’s ‘holistic education’ philosophy.
本次颁奖的奖项分为“阅读之星”、“运动之星”、“创意之星”、“进步之星”、“学习积极奖”、“友善奖”、“优秀进步奖(读写课),以及“卓越成就奖(读写课)”。其中的“运动之星”是表彰那些在疫情期间在运动方面有突出表现的学生。前段时间的远程教学期间,老师鼓励孩子们在学业之余坚持锻炼身体,通过更好的自我防护来抗击疫情。因此可以看到,本次的颁奖礼从不同的角度对我们的学生进行了表彰,这也充分体现了学校“全人教育”的理念。
It is worth noting that in the end-of-year assessments in the International Curriculum, our pupils performed at a level almost 20% higher than what would be expected in a school in the U.K. or an international school. The reading assessments showed that our pupils in Grades 1, 2 and 3 made, on average, much more progress than would be expected for native English-speaking pupils in the U.K.. The progress made by the Grade 1 pupils, on average, was more than double than would be expected, even compared to native English-speaking pupils.
非常值得一提的是,对于此次的英语课程学习期末评估,外教们表示同学们取得的成绩比国外同年龄段英语为母语的学生超出了将近二十个百分点。有一项阅读评估显示三个年级的学生平均取得的进步都比预期高出了很多,其中一年级的学生平均取得的进步甚至是预期值的两倍多。
